Proud news has once again arrived from Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Bogor. Femaz Zulfan Abiratama, a student of the D3 Hotel Management program, secured second place in the student division of the Making Bed and Towel Art category at HOSPICOM 2026, held at Bogor Great Mall in Bogor City on Tuesday, 15 September 2026. This achievement extends the growing list of accomplishments earned by STP Bogor students at national-level hospitality competitions and further confirms the competitiveness of graduates from the tourism and hotel campus.
HOSPICOM 2026, or the Hospitality Competition, is a collaborative event between IHKA Bogor and Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Bogor carrying the spirit of From Bogor for Indonesia. The Making Bed and Towel Art category tests the precision of participants in preparing beds to world-class hotel standards, ranging from evenly tensioned sheets without a single wrinkle, to sharp and identical hospital corners on every side, to balanced blanket symmetry, all completed under strict time pressure. Participants are also required to showcase creativity through towel art, the craft of folding towels into decorative ornaments such as swans and elephants that serve as a special touch for hotel guests. This year's competition was joined by one hundred participants from forty-eight institutions, comprising hotel industry professionals as well as students from the university and vocational high school levels.
Amid such intense competition, Femaz remained calm and consistent from the first round through the second. The technical accuracy demonstrated by this student is the result of repeated practice in the campus practical rooms, which apply a composition of 70 percent practice and 30 percent classroom learning. Guidance from housekeeping lecturers, including Diah Renata Anggraeni who is affectionately known as Mam Reni, also helped shape the precision, speed, and professional work character that became the distinguishing factor at the judging table. Femaz conveyed that this achievement is dedicated to his family, his lecturers, and the entire academic community of STP Bogor, while also serving as motivation to keep honing his competencies until he is ready to compete in the international hotel industry.
The accomplishment of Femaz also stands as proof of the alignment between the campus curriculum and the standards applied in the business world. Assessment by judges drawn from industry practitioners ensures that the competencies tested truly reflect the needs of star-rated hotels, so the title earned by the student of STP Bogor carries a professional weight that is widely recognized. Through this event, the network among the campus, the Indonesian Housekeepers Association as a professional body, and the hotel industry grows stronger in preparing superior hospitality human resources.
